About this book

The seven magic squares of the planets, with their seals and the names of their intelligences and spirits, are the most copied pages Agrippa ever wrote: from these plates they passed into the grimoires, into the occult societies of the nineteenth century and into the talismans sold today. This notebook is the third of Book II in a series that divides Agrippa's work by theme. It contains Book II, chapters 16–22: counting on the fingers as it was taught in the Middle Ages; the Roman, Greek, Hebrew and Chaldean marks and the "marks of the magicians"; the numerical values of letters and divination by them; the numbers consecrated to the gods and ascribed to the elements; and the seven tables of the planets from 3 × 3 to 9 × 9, with their sums, metals, hours, divine names and seals — all reproduced from the original 1533 edition.
