The First World
Genesis tells the story of the fallen angels in a few lines: "God's sons saw that men's daughters were beautiful", and the Nephilim were on the earth in those days. The Book of Enoch tells the whole story — and it has come down to us complete only in Ge'ez, in the Bible of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Christianity reached the kingdom of Aksum in the 4th century, under King Ezana, and ever since the Ethiopian church has kept its Scriptures in Ge'ez. Its canon of about 81 books is wider than that of any other church, and it holds two books that other churches set aside and gradually lost: the Book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees.

About this book
This is the first notebook of the series "The Ethiopian Bible". It follows the first world from its beginning to its end and a new start: the creation, the garden of Eden, Cain, Seth and Enoch, the two hundred Watchers who bind themselves by an oath on Mount Hermon and father giants, Enoch's petition for the fallen angels and God's refusal, his journeys through heaven and earth with Uriel and Raphael, the Flood, Noah's book of remedies, and the tower of Babel. The familiar chapters of Genesis 1–11 stand side by side with the Book of the Watchers (1 Enoch 1–36) and chapters 4, 5, 7 and 10 of Jubilees — the names of the patriarchs' wives, Enoch as the first writer, the binding of the angels. Genesis is given in the World English Bible; Enoch and Jubilees in R. H. Charles's translations from the Ge'ez (1912, 1913), word for word, without cuts.
